Oil spots found on Canon 1D Mark III and 1Ds Mark III sensor filter - Canon offers free cleaning
Canon is advising owners of the 1D Mark III and 1Ds Mark III cameras, that large spots may appear on the low pass filter (LPF). This is caused by lubricant oil splashing from the mirror mechanism on to the LPF. Free cleaning is offered by Canon USA for oil on the LPF or on the back of the main mirror. Read more here
