Digital Tip of the Week

Many of today's digital cameras have sensors that are smaller than full frame 35mm. This creates a FOV (field of view) factor for your lens. The result is a 50mm lens effectively becomes an 80mm lens on a Canon (1.6 factor) or a 75mm lens on a Nikon (1.5 factor). You end up shooting with a longer focal length than you think. Longer focal lengths require higher shutter speeds to minimize camera shake. Rule of thumb, use a shutter speed equal to or greater than the 'effective' focal length of your lens.
