Canon and Nikon post Firmware updates

Firmware v1.1.1 for the Canon EOS 40D has been posted. It provides fixes for several bugs and enables the PC sync terminal to be used to trigger an external flash, even when the built-in flash is popped up.

Firmware v1.01 for the Nikon D700 corrects a focus tracking bug, addresses a problem with black dots appearing in long exposure photos and more.

  • Nikon has released firmware v2.01 for the D3. The update expands GPS support, implements several minor bug fixes and feature tweaks, promises improved autofocus responsiveness when tracking dark subjects and corrects an instance of black dots appearing in long exposure photos.
