With the introduction of Lightroom 2.0 (and now 2.1 in beta), Adobe has introduced Adobe Camera Profiles which can be used in Lightroom or the new ACR in Photoshop CS4.
These camera profiles work with the Calibration panel in Lightroom so that your images are rendered just as they looked on the back of your camera instead of the default Lightroom settings. The end result is you get the same colors and contrast as the JPEG preview straight out of your camera. You can download the Adobe Camera Profiles Beta software here. There are download and installation instructions on that page.
